Global Warming Due to Fluctuations in Sun

A group of prominent Argentine scientists disputes the genocidal theory that human activity is the cause of global warming. Eduardo Tonni, head of the Paleontology Department at the University of La Plata, notes that, while it's not politically correct to dispute this theory, the evidence for global warming being a "natural" occurrence is far more compelling.

As reported by Perfil.com on Dec. 2, scientist Rosa Compagnucci, a researcher with the National Science and Technology Commission (Conicet), and former member of the Inter-Governmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), stated at a recent conference at the Military Geography Institute that global warming is actually a phenomenon that has occurred quite frequently over the past 2,000 years. And, she noted, rather than being caused by carbon dioxide emissions produced by human activity, which many scientists accept as "irrefutable truth," it is much more likely related to "capricious" solar activity which, over a period of decades and centuries, has not been at all homogenous.

An author of two of the IPCC's 2001 reports, and an expert on the El Nino phenomenon, Campagnucci points to the period of global warming that occurred during the medieval period, between 800 and 1300, which she states was caused only by solar activity, and was what allowed the Vikings to make their trips to North America. With all the emphasis today on preparing for global warming, she warns, this could leave man unprepared to deal with the possibility of a new ice age. She notes that South America's Southern Cone just went through a brutal, record-breaking winter, which could be repeated in North America. Compagnucci references NASA's forecasts, which show global warming peaking by 2012, followed by a significant cold period as of 2030, which could result in another ice age by 2200.

As for natural disasters such as tsunamis or hurricane Katrina, Eduardo Tonni warns that there is little evidence that they are more frequent today than in the past. "The alarmism we see today," he argues, "is justified by the fact that it generates funds . . . Unfortunately, this is just another product of the market."

Catholic Georgetown University to Fully Fund Campus Gay Center

Co-president of GU Pride, Scott Chessare, responded by exclaiming “We won!”

By Hilary White

WASHINGTON, DC October 30, 2007 (LifeSiteNews.com) – The president of prestigious Georgetown University, the oldest Catholic university in the United States, has promised homosexual activists that the school will fully fund a center for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and “questioning” (LGBTQ) students by next fall. The pro-homosexual nature of the center is rejection of what is considered a serious Catholic moral teaching.

President John DeGioia told media, “How do we respond to legitimate requests for a more supportive environment? We can continue to do this in a somewhat informal manner … or we can move forward in a more organized way, through more formal and institutional structures and processes. In this case, it is time for the latter.”

On Wednesday October 24, DeGioia spoke to an audience of students and faculty expressing his “sadness” that Georgetown has too often been “hostile” toward the homosexual community. The campus newspaper, The Hoya, confirmed in an editorial that DeGioia “repeatedly committed himself” to each of the demands made by the campus homosexual activist group GU Pride.

DeGioia said, “At a Catholic and Jesuit university, [we] cannot advocate for policies or practices that are counter to Catholic teaching. Part of my responsibility as an administrator … is to ensure that nothing can compromise the integrity of our mission and identity.”

The co-president of GU Pride, Scott Chessare, responded by exclaiming “We won!”

“I don’t think we would have believed less than two months ago that there would be so much institutional change in such a short amount of time,” he added.

The announcement comes in response to an upsurge of pressure from homosexual activists on campus that began after a Georgetown sophomore was arrested for assaulting another student early on the morning of September 9. The incident is being treated as a “homophobic hate crime.”

Since the alleged hate crime assault, GU Pride has increased pressure on the University to “eliminate” what they consider the college’s “intolerance” of homosexuality. The group sponsored a week of activism, including marches, called “Coming Out Week.” Gay activists made a number of demands to be met by November 9, including a full-time staff member for their “LGBTQ” resource center.

“Our demands are very reasonable, and some of the demands have been around for more than six years,” GU Pride co-president Scott Chessare told the Georgetown Voice.

Support for the group was strong on campus and included demands from four faculty professors and an editorial in the Georgetown Voice that said, “All students should show their support for an LGBTQ resource center and increased diversity training by e-mailing DeGioia at president.georgetown.edu to show that these are mainstream demands that the University should take seriously.”

The editorial continued, “If the University fails to act by this date, GU Pride should look to more direct means of enacting change.”

The incident follows years of criticism from faithful Catholics that Georgetown has lost its Catholic nature. In September this year, Georgetown was at the center of another scandal in which it was revealed that its law school was funding students to engage in pro-abortion lobbying with agencies such as Planned Parenthood.

In 2006, Georgetown University Law Center honoured the notorious abortion crusader, Jesuit Fr. Robert Drinan, by naming a new faculty chair for human rights after him.

Wherefore, my dearly beloved, fly from the service of idols.
~ 1Cor 10:14 DRB

Some seemingly unrelated things happened recently which led to some culminating “event”, in the form of an article. Let me just go in order.

1.                  I was sent the following article a few days ago.

·              Breaking News: Vatican, bishops investigating Georgetown theologian Phan [LINK]

2.                  Then I was sent the following article the next few days.

·              Vatican Investigates American Theologian [LINK]

3.                  In Dr. Sungenis’ letter to Cardinal William Levada of the CDF, he used quotations from the liberal Catholic publication, Commonweal.

4.                  Six months ago, I attended Cardinal Mahoney’s Religious Education Congress, where I picked up a few free copies of Commonweal, just for kicks.

5.                  So, I was a bit curious, so I walked over to my shelf to dig up a Commonweal issue, and guess what the headline was:

·              LOOKING EAST: What Catholics are Learning ~ Peter Phan”

Coincidence? Perhaps… So I read the lengthy article, and was very much displeased with what I read. No wonder the Vatican’s Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith and even the USCCB has problems with his work. This article is a good example of why heterodoxy under the guise of “Catholicism” is so dangerous.

I have scanned the pages, with my highlights.

Intaurare Omnia in Buddha? … Anathema!

Instaurare Omnia in Christo, for “neither is there salvation in any other. For there is no other name under heaven given to men, whereby we must be saved” (Acts 4:12), and that name is Jesus.
