January calendar of celebrations of The Roman Catholic Church

A new year has just started and, at the beginning of the year, it is crucial to prepare for the crucial dates waiting for Catholics in January. This month, there is a number of important dates which should be kept in mind and this calendar will help you to organise your celebration.

The solemnities celebrated in the January 2022

The first solemnity of the year happens on the first of January. This year the event took place on Saturday. This is a crucial celebration of The Roman Catholic Church known as Mary mother of God.

The next especially important event of the Catholic Church is undeniably Epiphany Saint André Bessette which is celebrated on the 6th of January. This year the solemnity takes place on Thursday which is a day free from work in many countries where the Catholic religion is one of the major religions.

These are actually the two solemnities of January celebrated by the Catholic community.

The feasts of the January 2022

This month, there are two feasts are waiting for Catholics. The first one will take place on the 9th of January, Sunday. This is the day of Baptism of the Lord. There will be another Catholic feast on January which will be celebrated on the 25th of the month. This crucial day of the Catholic liturgical calendar is The Conversion of Saint Paul.

The memorials of the January 2022

Undeniably, there are much more memorials than solemnities.

On the second of January, the Catholic community celebrated the memorials of two saints of The Church. This day is dedicated to Saint Basil and Saint Gregory in the Catholic liturgical calendar.

The next memorial will happen on the 17th of January when the day of Saint Anthony of Egypt is celebrated. In four days after this memorial date, there will be the celebration of the day of Saint Agnes. The 24th of January is the memorial day of Saint Francis de Sales.

The 26th of January is the memorial day of the two saints of The Roman Catholic Church. This particular day is dedicated to Saint Titus and Saint Timoty.

There are two more memorial days this January. On the 28th of January, the Catholic community will be celebrating the memorial day of Saint Thomas Aquinas whereas the 31st of January is the day dedicated to Saint John Bosco.

The optional memorial days of January 2022

In fact, today is the first optional memorial day of the Catholic Church. This is the day of The Most Holy Name of Jesus. The next optional memorial day will happen right after the day of Epiphany of Saint Andre Bassette, on the 7th of January. This is the memorial day of Saint Raymond of Penyafort.

The thirteenth of the January is the optional memorial day of Saint Hilary of Poitiers.

The 20th of January is the optional memorial day of two saints. The day is dedicated to Saint Fabian and Saint Sebastian. Just in two days after this optional celebration, there is another optional memorial day which is dedicated to Saint Vincent.

The last optional memorial day of the Catholic liturgical calendar of January is the 27th. On this day, the community of Catholics is celebrating the day of Saint Angela Merici.

Do not forget about the specific celebrations of the Roman Catholic Church held in particular countries. This is particularly true for the USA, Argentina and Canada.
